Freelance
Work SLIS,
Inc works exclusively with freelance interpreters in private practice.
We developed this structure from the preferences and input of working
interpreters in the greater metro Atlanta area, our first-served region.
We enjoy the working relationships we have with these professional
colleagues. We
offer freelancers excellent support in the form of varied assignment
possibilities, great teaming, simple paperwork, timely payment, and
genuine respect for your skills, your effort, and your time. You can
work with us once, once in a while, during your time off from other
things, often, or all the time. We
currently have most of our work available in Georgia, concentrated in
the 27 county metro Atlanta area. In
addition, we have freelancers who work with us on assignments in their
home-base areas all over the country. Becoming
an independent contractor with SLIS is easy. Contact us for our
freelancer information packet. Complete this and return it with
documentation of your credentials and liability insurance and you are
ready to work! Currently SLIS recognizes RID certification and Georgia
QA. We are willing to review your credentials for consideration if they
are different (NAD, another state's assessment system). As
an interpreter co-owned and operated business we are directly
experienced in all it takes to work successfully in the freelance field.
SLIS is proud of the role we have had, in partnership with professional
interpreters, in growing the field through both quantity of work and
quality of working conditions. Adequate and accurate assignment
information, qualified interpreters to share team assignments,
streamlined administrative methods, true understanding of ethical
issues, the need for flexibility and support, these are all elements
SLIS offers the freelancers with whom we work. The characteristics we
look for are those of a real
professional: whether a veteran or beginner, a person with a sincere
dedication to the Deaf Community and to the Interpreting field, one who
is willing to ask for what they need, take responsibility for their
actions, show respect for themselves, for their team, and for their
consumers, one for whom interpreting is both a job and a pleasure. |
